May's Book

Well here it is girls...a few days late, but here none the less. May's book was selected by Megan and is called "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" by Barbara Kingsolver. Now there has been some concern, even on my part, that this book could be just trying to convince us all to become vegetarians, but I have done some research and read reviews, and that's not at all what it is about, so I am very excited to read it! It is actually written by one of my favorite authors, and chronicles a year in her families life when they moved to a farm and eat locally grown foods. This does spark my interest because I have been thinking a lot lately about the counsel we are often given regarding food storage and self reliance. My father-in-law is an expert gardener and his garden is amazing and inspires me to have my own. This book supposedly shares so interesting ideas from vegetables, to recipes, to the sex life of Turkeys! I for one am interested to read about that! :) So, if you haven't got the book already, get to the library or book store and let's have a fun month discussing. We'll keep all the discussing under this one post and let Megan kind of lead the forum!

Posting Update

So I think it's unanimous....I am bad at posting topics. With this realization, I think I might have come up with a good solution. I kind of like how the conversation has been going under the post announcing April's book. I was thinking that each month we could just post what the book is and then everyone is free to comment whenever, on whatever. I thought this could be a good solution because each of us has different thoughts, insights and views on what we are reading, and would come up with varying conversations with each post. It would be kind of like how it has been going under April's book announcement. What do you think about doing things this way? Let me know and we'll go forward. Even though there have been kinks, I for one am really enjoying this book club and looking forward to many more months of reading!!!
